PRESIDENT OF AZEBAIJAN

Political career:

- 1982 : Graduated at Moscow State University (International Relations)

- 1985-1990: Professor of International Relations at Moscow State University

- 1994: Vice-President of the Azerbaijan State Oil Company

- 1997: President of the Azerbaijan State Oil Company

- 1997-2000: Parliamentary at the National Assembly

- 2003: Vice-President of the European Union’s General Assembly

- 2003: Appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the General Assembly. Eleceted President of the Republic the same year.

Involvement in wrestling:

- 1997: Elected NOC President. Encouraged the development of wrestling. Great Champions under his presidency: 2000, Namik Abdoullayev Olympic Champion in Sydney; 2003, Arif Abdoullayev World Champion; 2004, Farid Mansourov OIympic Champion in Athens. Supported the organisation of international competitions in Baku.

- 2001: First junior international tournament in Baku.

- 2002: European Championship

- 2004: World Cup

- 2006: Final of the Golden Grand Prix

- 2007: First World Championship ever organised in AZE.
